A Tribute to the Class of 2022

By Angel Bhandari and Katie Picard

Wow! What a year it has been, with all the highs and lows, COVID restrictions, and more. But even with all of this commotion going on, the seniors involved with JuSTEMagine stepped up and helped make JuSTEMagine become the best version of itself. The team was made up of many incredible seniors, and we are sad to see them go, but we know they are on a path to achieve great things, and we are so excited to see what they will achieve in their future. This year’s class was filled with strong minded leaders who were committed, hard-working, and intelligent which created a team who made spectacular discoveries and positively impacted the JuSTEMagine community. They helped JuSTEMagine expand to other states and countries, volunteered countless hours to help with events, and overall, helped us get where we are today. Here’s to the splendid senior class of 2022!

Board Members:

Jack Cenovic

During Jack’s time at JuSTEMagine he served as the Co-Founder and President of JuSTEMagine. Since 2019, when he first co-founded the organization, he has volunteered with many initiatives by designing curriculum, conducting legislative advocacy, assembling STEM kits, forming connections with other organizations, and beyond. As President he oversaw JuSTEMagine’s growth, new outreach, operations, Board, and recruitment of volunteers. Jack will be attending Harvard University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Cambridge, MA! Our Presidential Scholar, you will be missed dearly!

“I would say not to be afraid to advocate for the change that they want to see in our world. JuSTEMagine showed me how we are never too young to work towards positive change and advocate for what we believe in.”

Riley Hawkins

During Riley’s time at JuSTEMagine she served as Vice President. She did many different things for JuSTEMagine. She recalls during the summer of 2020 helping Prairie STEM assemble STEM Kits for elementary school kids, which was incredibly impactful as it was a tangible thing they were doing. Her living room, though, was full of sandbags, gallons of vegetable oil, paint, and so many other things. Additionally she worked with the Scott Scholars at UNO to organize two Sisters in STEM Leadership Events! Last but not least, she helped with the STEM Advocacy Conference last March. She wrote the script for the press conference, organized the event with the Capitol, ensured JuSTEMagine had display boards, and spoke with journalists to get JuSTEMagine's message out. Riley will be attending Dartmouth College next fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Hanover, NH! We look forward to seeing your future success!

“Truly I feel so lucky to have been a part of such an incredible organization; as a result of my work with JuSTEMagine I feel I have grown as a person, and gained skills in communication and organization. My advice for new members would be to go out on a limb a little bit! Your heart will not lead you astray.”

Akshay Mehta

During Akshay’s time at JuSTEMagine he served as the Technology Director/Treasurer. In his position he handled the website, SEL Central app, and various other projects as well as in-person volunteering. Akshay will be attending Brown University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Providence, DE! You radiate so much positive energy and will be missed!

“One of my favorite memories was helping Prairie STEM with a World Drumming camp. Another great memory of mine is assembling STEM kits in the bottom of Jack’s basement. We each got huge shipments to our house and assembled them. This then grew into the huge STEM kit operation that JuSTEMagine and Prairie STEM have going on now."

Maya Savory

During Maya’s time at JuSTEMagine she was the Director of Curriculum. She mainly led the virtual STEAM kits with Prairie STEM and recruited volunteers to design the experiments and lesson plans for them. Maya will be attending John Hopkins University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Baltimore, MD! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your efforts!

“JuSTEMagine is definitely worth all the work because with our work with Prairie STEM and SparkPositivity, we are making a real difference and creating opportunities for thousands of Nebraska students!”

Chapter Leader:

Bryce Robinson

During Bryce’s time at JuSTEMagine she was the the founder of the Colorado Springs Chapter. She organized cost-free STEAM career events/after-school activities and SEL presentations. Her favorite event was called Awesome Aviation, where K-12 students had hands-on STEM activities, distinguished guest speakers, a Wings of Blue (parachute team) demonstration, and a tour of the Air Traffic Control Tower. Often, she helped organize and raise awareness for the importance of an SEL education at her school. Bryce will be attending California Baptist University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Riverside, CA! Thank you for spreading JuSTEMagine's mission!

“Throughout being a part of JuSTEMagine I’ve been able to grow my passion for showing that students, families, and communities deserve access to schools that are inclusive, responsive, reflective, and affirming of all cultural backgrounds and identities.. I love seeing so many other young change makers across the world all pursuing the same goal.”

Volunteers:

Bavishya Bachu

During Bavishya’s time at JuSTEMagine, she attended JuSTEMagine's first ever Nebraska Advocacy Confrence, as well as volunteering with various other projects! Bavishya will be attending Northeastern University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Boston, MA! Thank you for helping!

Gabby Boles

During Gabby’s time at JuSTEMagine she attended JuSTEMagine's very special Nebraska Advocacy Confrence while also volunteering with other events! Gabby will be attending Scripps College in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Claremont, CA! Keep smiling!

Molly Clark

During Molly’s time at JuSTEMagine she has helped JuSTEMagine with various projects and attended JuSTEMagine’s first Nebraska Advocacy Conference. Molly will be attending Amherst College in the fall. We can't wait to see what you will accomplish in Amherst, MA! We all love you so much!

“I just sometimes helped out but it was really fun when I did help!”

Janeilya Davis

During Janeilya’s time at JuSTEMagine she has volunteered with several different activities! Janeilya will be attending Rice University in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Houston, TX! Congratulations on your acceptance!

Elle Miles

During Elle’s time at JuSTEMagine she helped JuSTEMagine with many discoveries, achieving JuSTEMagine's goals, and volunteering! Elle will be attending the University of Washington in St. Louis in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in St. Louis, MO. Keep up the great work!

Kidman Ip

During Kidman's time with JuSTEMagine she served as a web advisor and helped improve the overall quality of the website to better reflect JuSTEMagine’s mission. Kidman will be attending Northwestern University this fall. We can’t wait to see what you will accomplish in Evanston, IL! Your hard work is very much appreciated!

JuSTEMagine is a great opportunity to get service hours. During COVID-19, I struggled to get service hours as most places were closed. However, I was able to revise the website at home, and the hours were flexible!”

Josh Randolph

During Josh’s time with JuSTEMagine he helped design one of JuSTEMagine's first programs: the STEM kit curriculum. The STEM kit includes learning opportunities for many young students from biology to programming. Josh will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in Boston, MA! We all look forward to seeing your bright future!

“JuSTEMagine was very special for me because it allowed me to share my passion for STEM with younger students.”

Thank you to all our Board Members, Chapter Leaders, Volunteers, and more! We literally could not have done any of this without you! You all have great future endeavours, and everyone here at JuSTEMagine is rooting for you! Once again, congratulations to the class of 2022!

We love you Jack, Riley, Akshay, Maya, Bryce, Bavishya, Gabby, Molly, Janeilya, Elle, Kidman and Josh!
