Katie Picard has been part of JuSTEMagine for 2 years now. She is currently a sophomore at Brownell Talbot and wants to pursue a career in the STEM field! Some activities that she participates in regarding STEM are Science Olympiad, and previously robotics. She has been publishing for Imagining for a year as well!
What is your favorite STEM class?
“My favorite class is chemistry because I am able to do many experiments and labs. I enjoy doing these hands-on experiments, as it intrigues my interests! I enjoy Mrs. Newman’s teaching style and the many activities we do in her class. It never gets boring or fails to spark my interest. I didn’t know how to feel about it initially, but when the class started I really enjoyed it!”
What is your favorite article you have worked on and why?
“My favorite article that I have worked on most definitely has to be the most recent one! For February’s publication, I did “What Career Includes All Letters in STEAM?” This article intrigued me because it was such a fun article to research. I learned a lot about different types of STEAM careers through this article. I also got to research many different careers in STEAM. Which also helped me explore new STEAM careers, as well as research for the article.”
What is an activity you enjoy doing after school and why?
“I enjoy cheerleading and volleyball! I participate in both sports in school, and I do club volleyball as well. I play mainly defensive positions in volleyball, and in cheerleading, I am a base. Both of these sports are super fun and I really enjoy them. I joined volleyball because it was a tremendous passion of mine. I like playing it, and having fun with my friends while I’m there. I joined cheerleading because I enjoy doing the dances, as well as some of the stunts!”
What is your favorite coffee shop and why?
“My favorite coffee shop is Caribou Coffee! I love getting their iced vanilla lattes. The staff there is always so kind and welcoming. Their drinks never fail to boost my mood and put a smile on my face. I love coffee, and Caribou Coffee is definitely and must-go to stop for it! Their iced lattes are amazing, and the staff is some of the best and kindest people you will ever meet!”
What’s your favorite food?
“My favorite food is definitely Italian food, from Olive Garden. I love their alfredo pasta, and their breadsticks are to die for!”
